Hello World!

That’s her motto. H loves to travel. It’s her dream to see the world. The more places the better. Her passport already has stamps of more then 20 countries and she has traveled abroad (outside India) at least 60 times. She has a new tale to tell every time she comes back from a visit abroad. People think of her as a resident expert when it comes to experiences.

And every journey for her, is a collection of experiences. It’s that what makes her life exciting. It’s something which she looks forward to. She now believes that "Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away." Though this realization took time. It just hit her one day when she realised she was working too hard and had missed her yearly vacation for two years in a row. She realised that she was missing out on ‘life’. So, she decided to just take off for 2 weeks…to the mountains for some introspection time…and she came back enlightened!

Now she has decided to make the most of now. There is no point in postponing the now for tomorrow. Now as she looks towards the future she knows that she will want to see ‘1000 places before she dies’. She knows that she deserves the break for the hard work she puts in.

Opportunity: Don’t postpone the now for the future

At work, she is considered as someone who is smart and passionate about everything she does. It’s not about just doing the job. It’s about value adding. She works hard and how. She has infectious energy that inspires people and that’s the drive that keeps her going. One holiday gives her the rejuvenation fuel to last for a year.

Inspite of the 10% salary cut, she is not cutting down on her future travel plans. She is planning a budget holiday – do it like the backpackers! She liked her holidays to be a combination of spontaneity and planning. So there is an element of surprise every time. She says “if it's planned to the T, it becomes predictable.” Obviously the flight tickets are planned, that is not left to the last minute. She loves it when airline knows her name, understands her needs – of a vegetarian meal and has loads of blankets for a cold flight. As people we all seek warmth and caring. It’s as basic as that. She loves it when they surprise her. For example, Thai Airways gives out orchids to all women on the flight. That makes her feel beautiful.

Opportunity: Always keep room for surprises!
