Airlines Experiences

Regan Mathews hates traveling, something I gathered from his tone when I mentioned how I wanted to know about his traveling experiences. As marketing manager of Midas in Kuwait, Regan travels at least once a month solely on business trips but does manage a holiday abroad once a year with his family. My conversation with him started off on a common route as both of us have always been at loggerheads when arguing about technology.

“What excites me most about the future is the growing popularity of Space Tourism. Probably 20 years down in the future I can imagine trips to space, or the moon and maybe later other planets as well. I can very well imagine people honeymooning on another planet and airlines developing Tourism packages on the same grounds. To which I argued that something on that scale would probably take more time, to which Regan threw a counter attack stating, "The advancement in air technology is ahead of it’s time by at least 25-30 years. The innovation and growth witnessed already is the key to showing tremendous potential. What changes will occur is in the hands of Science.'”

Then we moved on to a topic that is hardly ever discussed upon - an improvement on ground facilities. The last 20 years have seen a lot of improvement on air travel But the growth in providing for ground facilities has hardly ever been considered. The growth has probably been witnessed on service provision for the elite class. So I am guessing if in the near future there is to be any changes in travel, it will be more on the ground level than in the air.

Next, Regan pointed out how there are still some airlines that make sure there is a level of consistency in service all the time. He said there are still a few airline companies in the world that take that extra effort to be with their customers throughout and throughout.

Rating Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines and Cathay Pacific as his best, most comfortable and royal ways to travel. Most other airlines pale in comparison to them. He recalled this recurring set of incidences where he had a major problem of losing his luggage all the time, and each time, the carrier was Emirates. His tone clearly showed the sort of dysfunctional relationship he’s had with the airline and he labeled them arrogant, as they believe they are the best!

Another thing he pointed out was the Via Dubai Flight, which he believes is a wastage of precious time. Finally we talked about holidaying trends, where he pointed out that he doesn’t really see a shift as to where people are holidaying. “Holidays have always been the pleasure of the upper crust of society and what is happening is that due to cheaper airline fares the tourism level is only increasing. He says probably, the elite class is done holidaying around the world so they are on the lookout for places that are remote.
